How many times have you looked at the coming year, the actual number and thought to yourself -
"Blimey, 2014!!Already!!" I first remember doing that in 1974, just turned 11 and I was baby-sitting my two sisters in Camden Town whilst mum and dad celebrated the evening with friends across the road.
Since then I've seen and witnessed enough joy and heartache to fill a lifetime. I've gone from smoking 30 a day and swigging vodka like there was no tomorrow to being non-smoking practically tea-totalling (well Coffee dependant anyway) health entusiast that enjoys training, good company and a good cause.
Sired five beautfiul children and beaten cancer along the way.
Some two thirds into my life if I'm lucky enough to make it to 75, I have met some amazing people along the route and some incredibly dire souls. They all teach lessons, they all give in some way, and I've always tried to learn from that.
Bottom line? The Golden rule I learnt in primary school.
"Do unto others as you would have done unto you"
I'm quite happy with how I turned out and for that I have to thank one man and ten women.
Mum and Dad,
Gabriella and Anne-lie, Camilla, Malin, Rebecca, Caitlin & Devon, (my five beautiful girls) and of course, my two incredible sisters Sue and Jane.
Without whom I'd undoubtedly have gone under a long time ago.
Cheers to you guys.
I'm on 50 Not Out.
Here's to the next 50 ;)
